Lukaku to Arsenal? I should say so Arsene

So I think it is safe to say Arsenal need a striker and I’m not talking about Takuma Asano, their recent Japanese purchase. Thanks to a hefty pay rise by his current employers, Leicester City and an extended contract, Jamie Vardy has already said no thanks to the London side. So where do the Gunners look now. Well for me there is one player who would be perfect for them, his name Romelu Lukaku. Arsenal are crying out for a big bustling strong as an ox striker. Olivier Giroud has done a decent job up top whilst at the Emirates but it is clear an upgrade is needed and the 23 year old Belgian is in my opinion just the man to fill the gap, the Frenchman would then become the back up. It is common knowledge Lukaku wants a move to a club in the Champions League. Everton flirted with it in the 2013/14 season finishing 5th, when he was on loan at Goodison before his £28m permanent move, but since then the Liverpool based club have gone backwards and the time is surely right for them to cash in. Therein lies one of two big issues, firstly will Arsenal stump up anywhere near the so called £50+ million wanted and secondly new manager, Ronald Koeman, would be loathe to sell a star asset just as he begins the rebuild at Everton. Yes they will have to pay big money to get him but to me it’s a no brainer – maybe a structured bid to include add ons up to £50 million might seal the deal, whether a famously frugal Arsenal and Arsene Wenger will pay that is a different matter entirely.

  1. I honestly believe Koeman will persuade Lukaku to say, even more so if they lose Stones to Man City. Also, Henry has left his coaching role now too, what is going on?
