Football 'moments' are sport's most valuable

It may have slipped your notice that today is the 43rd anniversary of England's World Cup win in 1966. To mark the occasion, Panasonic Blu-Ray asked Dr David Lewis (if you work in PR, you'll know who that is) and Mindlab International to come up with a formula which calculates the value of memories. Here it is:

Err...ok. So that's a little difficult for us feeble-brained folk to comprehend, but there was of course a study to go along with it which found that football is more important than any other sport the 1966 win was the most valuable sporting memory (that's £1,249,689 stat fans!), followed by some things that apparently happened in other sports.

Conversely, football occupies the top three spots for "least valuable sporting moments": Hand of God (-£970,970), David Beckham's 1998 sending off against Argentina (-£414,424) and Chris Waddle's penalty miss (-£323,208).

I am considering asking Dr Lewis and Panasonic to calculate the value of Waddle's punditry, but I don't think there is a low enough number.
