My apology letter to Gareth Barry

Dear Gareth,
I'm sorry you're a turncoat who played over 400 games for a club whose supporters will forever hold you in contempt.
I'm sorry you feel the need to unburden your guilt onto supporters who hate you.
I'm sorry a life of unimaginable luxury wasn't enough.
I'm sorry I wrote countless articles arguing that your lack of pace was counterbalanced by your attributes.
I'm sorry I steadfastly insisted you should be in the England squad despite the fact that you're not fit to be in the same midfield as Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard.
I'm sorry that your legs will have gone by the time Manchester City even get close to the top four.
I'm sorry for thinking you carried a poor team for two years.
I'm sorry that a poor team carried you for eight.
I'm sorry Steven Gerrard and the Champions League were so much more important than a decade of adoration.
I'm sorry they turned out to not be important at all.
I'm sorry for wishing you nothing but failure and suffering.
I'm sorry, Judas, but there's no forgiveness here.

Aye, good riddance to the money grabbing wee radge. He'll be collecting his pension by the time Man City get anywhere near the Champions League.
So so wrong and warped it's untrue.
He could have stayed and made more money.
He never said he wanted CL football just one that matched his CL ambitions - City obviously fit that bill better that MONs Villa.
He signed on a promise from O'Neill and the promise never materialised.
I'm sorry 'Anonymous', but I just can't agree with your defence of Barry. Of course there are inner workings to all this, but for the average fan this is plain old defection.
It is defection, pure and simple. City are not even in Europe next season and while his time at Villa had arguably run it's course, he should have at least been holding out for a 'big 4' club for a few months.
Basically, he's off to get PAID!
It's pretty obvious that cash is the motivator her but he has done a lot of good for Villa - how many players stay at one club for that long??? On a side note, how much worse would you have felt if he had gone down to join Harry at Spurs....
His service to the club was matched by the support we gave him, so he can't demand respect now. He's shown us none.
There was no "loyal Gareth Barry". He was heading for Portsmouth last time Villa were substandard. He has indicated a desire to leave on at least one other occasion.
Gareth Barry was carried by Villa for years before turning into a top quality player. The club and supporters owe him nothing.
As for Spurs, at least he supported them as a kid. He only has one connection with Al-Citeh, and that's cash.
I'm not saying that Villa fans owe Barry anything, I just question whether he deserves to be lambasted for leaving the club. I appreciate that I am not a Villa fan and have a different perspective but I actually applaud the fact he did send that open letter. The one thing I would have changed would be to acknowledge the part that additional wages had in the move.
I think the letter was written to try and make the greedy twat feel better about himself. Villa fans didn't want to hear from him, and that's supposedly who he was writing for.
